Are you wondering if it is normal to feel anxious at this time?
Yes it is, and you are not alone.
Eating because you are stressed.
Questioning whether or not you are doing enough.
But what actually are they and how can you overcome them?
Social anxiety – You need human interaction to thrive emotionally, being able to laugh and just have a conversation form stronger bonds and is good for your mental health.
Become part of a Facebook group with others who have similar interests to you and also set up zoom calls and have a weekly coffee morning where you can meet and catch up safely online.
Prioritise time with your family, friends and colleagues as together you are stronger.
Eating because you are stressed – Emotional eating is a common way to deal with anger, stress, uncertainty and sadness and the situation we are all in doesn’t help.
Try and keep yourself away from this by creating a calming environment, try yoga, meditation or even by going for a walk is a great way to reduce piling on the pounds.
Look after yourself and try and hold yourself in high esteem remembering the good things that you have achieved.
Questioning whether or not you are doing enough – Putting pressure on your self and feeling like you are not doing as much as others in this time is easily done, but what you have to remember is that you are not that person and should not compare yourself to others.
Online therapy such as talk space is available for support as well as Samaritans to offer emotional support.
Nobody expects you to do more in this time and as such neither should you. Only do what you are able to do, if it is what you want to do.
Remember, this is only a temporary measure.
Keep your family and friends close and keep in contact.
Have a daily routine to keep you focused.
Value your physical health to keep physically and mentally fit.
Plan for the future and identify what you can do differently to benefit yourself and others long term and not just now.
WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER
NO MATTER HOW OVERBEARING IT MAY FEEL
ANXIETY WILL NOT BEAT US
